Container Freight Station
A nationwide warehouse company and LTL carrier based in Houston, Texas was dealing with a high volume of irregular shipments requiring manual measure. The process was slow, costly, and unreliable, with human error and recording inaccuracies costing the company thousands of dollars. Due to recurring inaccuracies in freight dimensions and weights, the company leadership was wasting too much time in warehouses reviewing packaging and labeling for inaccuracies. The company contacted Cargo Spectre for a simple, cost effective solution that could improve dimensioning and weighing accuracy across multiple locations.
After careful study of the warehouse carrier’s cargo operations, the Cargo Spectre team recommended our Pallet Spectre automated dimensioning system to dramatically improve measuring accuracy and data sharing between multiple warehouse locations. The Pallet Spectre system uses automated A.I. scanning technology to accurately calculate the precise measurements of every pallet that enters a warehouse, truck, or container, producing NTEP-certified weights and dimensions much faster and more reliably than traditional, manual measuring. Each measurement is automatically recorded in an electronic database for easy retrieval and sharing.
PROJECT GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
Reducing the time and labor necessary to record accurate, manual measurements of a high volume of irregular freight during peak season was our client’s top priority. We achieved that goal on Day 1, but we went farther. Automated measurements from Cargo Spectre also allows the client to describe items, review packaging, and review labeling of cargo across multiple warehouses without having to be onsite. Now, multiple remote offices can share data and collaborate during peak season.
MEASURE OF SUCCESS
Thanks to the Pallet Spectre’s incredibly accurate, NTEP-certified measurements, our client saved considerable time and money wasted on manual cargo measuring. With more efficient and reliable data stored and shared easily via the cloud, our client can also retrieve and share real-time freight measurements between multiple users and facilities around the world. Best of all, the Pallet Spectre system was set up and running in just hours and paid for itself in one month.
